During the two-week project group of 8 volunteers arranged area of community garden in the village and together with local people and with the support of head of the village set in the swings for children in community garden, turning in such a way part of public garden into a child’s dream!.
The purpose of the camp – to promote volunteering in Ukraine by supporting the development and dissemination of ideas of rural development in Ukraine and preservation of historical monuments in rural areas (by the way the public garden in the village of Vovkiv as appeared belongs to the historical places of local importance and has quite a long history) and the popularization of "greener" lifestyle improvement and setting interactive public space for leisure activities for children and young people in rural areas, and most importantly – support initiatives in rural communities.
Based on years of experience of holding workcamps we can ensure that international volunteering enhances intercultural dialogue among young people, promote the ideas of volunteering as a way to build a civil society, but also allows in voluntary way to do something useful for society and the environment. Voluntary camp in Vovkiv once again proved that volunteering is not only cool and fun thing but also useful, interesting and educative!
During the project were harmoniously combined work and leisure time, communication between volunteers and exchange of experiences, which helped to create a real dream team from the group of people from around the world.
Thanks to volunteers it was prepared and installed a playground in a public garden in the village Vovkiv. This fact brought volunteers a lot of pleasure – it is nice and joyful to see the results of your own work, especially being aware that all of this you’ve done is for kids!
Workshops and cultural visits during holiday helped to the international group in better way to understand Ukraine and its traditions, to understand the life of the Ukrainian village. All of volunteers were satisfied by trips on the horse-cart, swimming in the lake, a trip to the towns of Western Ukraine.
Volunteers in the camp followed ecological lifestyle and were trying to cause as little damage to the environment as possible, reducing wasting of electricity consumption, using ecological means of life, consuming healthy food.
Activities and teamwork helped people related to different nationalities, cultures, languages, interests and experiences, within 2 short weeks to become so friendly and united, that one could have an impression that these people are well-acquainted with each other for a couple of years!
